Max Rollitt is well regarded among his peers for having a unique eye for antiques. He originally trained as a furniture designer and maker, and was apprenticed to Frearson and Hewlett, an antique furniture restoration workshop supporting the top London trade. Since 1993, Max has run his own antique business – now located just outside the picturesque South Downs village of Avington – and he began creating his own range of bespoke furniture in 1998. Max took the next natural step of entering into the world of interior design in 2006, combining his skills to highly sought-after effect.

Traditional Upholsterer & Workshop Manager
This is a key new role at Max Rollitt with the responsibility of overseeing and working on all of the traditionally upholstered items in the MR Bespoke range, as well as the restoration of antiques.
The role will entail leading and managing the development of an onsite upholstery workshop, alongside the production and antique teams. The role will develop to include the line management and training of apprentices in traditional upholstery.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and talented traditional upholsterer to join our busy team at a key stage of development as we build a new dedicated workshop at our Yavington Barn showroom and offices in Hampshire. Max Rollitt is a wide-ranging business that brings together bespoke furniture and one-off commissions, antiques and interior design, working with top designers and private clients globally.
We are looking for someone who is keen to develop their career by spearheading a new workshop and becoming part of a thriving business, with a focus on furthering MR Bespoke and restoring antique furniture.
Experience in traditional upholstery is essential, but we will ensure you have access to knowledge from a long-standing craftsman that Max Rollitt has worked with over the last 25 years to share the finer details of the upholstery finish that Max Rollitt upholds.
You will become a vital member of a small, dynamic team, manage junior upholsterer(s), and liaise closely with Max and the Bespoke Production Manager to develop new ideas and products and ensure the smooth production of existing made-to-order items.
You will be excited about progressing your craft and honing your skills, and enthusiastic about joining an exemplary antique and design company where the ethos of designed and made in England sits at its heart.
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, capable of following written instructions and carry out their duties with minimal supervision. They must be hard-working, reliable, punctual and happy to work within a small team, as well as on their own initiative.
