A facsimile copy of an impressive mahogany four poster bed originally made in 1765 and purchased from a Sotheby's house sale in 1998, following the dispersal of the estate of The Chamberlayne Family of Stoneythorpe Hall, Warwickshire.
The bed showed signs of its original "Toile de Jouy" upholstery which had been glued to the cornice. For the new design, the cornice is available in polished walnut, painted or copying the original, tight upholstered. The back posts are made in walnut to match the front posts, however they can also be made in beech wood and tight upholstered. The second image shows the bed wearing short side curtains with silk swags and side rails made in unpolished tulip wood.
All beds are made to order to the bespoke specification of the client. The bed shown is 5' wide. The price is for frame only, fabrics, divan and mattress are not included, but can be supplied to fit the frame.
